it’s officially official

dear world,

i have made it through the first trimester and everything is going just how it ought to. at my doctor’s visit last week, we listened to the baby’s heartbeat and she said it’s nice and fast, just like it should be. i am officially going to have another baby.

it’s been difficult for me to keep my pregnancy a secret, but i managed to only share with a few people prior to our official announcement- my doctors, the lady at the wine shop, a few close girlfriends. now that we’re telling people, it’s at once exciting and kind of a let down. the girls at the office all knew, but were being polite and waiting until i decided to share. my sisters, who live out of town, are both very excited and so are all of our parents.

i forgot that pregnancy is public property, though. i’ve had several conversations in the last week about my personal health, about our personal choices in finding out the sex of the baby, stuff i don’t think to share with just anyone. i wished for so long to be able to talk about it and now i’m overwhelmed with talking about it. maybe it’s just the pregnancy hormones making their proper debut. i mean, it’s not like i don’t cry at the drop of a hat these days or anything.

publicly, properly, officially pregnant,

cm
